Summary as of 2008:
The W7UQ station has not showed up on the air often over the past 2-3 years. But we are working to change that. Recently we have been able to repair our HF beam rotator so get use of our TH7 antenna. We have also created new wire antennas that can be set up quickly for portable operations, along with the acquisition of absorbed glass mat batteries and power-pole connectors to help standardize our power connections and simplify operations. The creation of a Wiki for the W7UQ club station is envisioned to provide students with an invaluable reference to ensure the club station is properly maintained and well exercised, and to motivate club members to try new things on the air. We are becoming more involved with contests to increase club activity beyond our weekly VHF nets, and hope to work more stations in the years to come.
Spring/ Summer 2009 Contest Participation
- Idaho QSO Party
- KE7PHG operated for 45 minutes on 20 meters to log over 50 contacts by hand. Just a fun effort this year.
- CQWW WPX
- KE7PHG visited the W7UQ ham shack one night to experience 40 meter contacts. Only logged 10 contacts this time around due to S9 noise levels and antenna issues.
- 7th Call Area QSO Party
- KE7PHG stopped by W7UQ and picked a frequency to call CQ on at 2 different times for 20m and 40m operation to log about 80 contacts. Beautiful window on 40m before S9 noise drowned everything out again.
Fall/Winter 2008 Contest Participation
- California QSO Party
- The first contest we participated in this semester. We worked 25 counties on Low Power in the CQP for 1900 points. We're just trying to get the rust off of the aerials and make sure they still work after the summer! :)
- Pennsylvania QSO Party
- We popped up to make 3 contacts while setting up a SignalOne transceiver this weekend. That old radio is a joy to work with!
- October School Club Roundup
- KE7PHG operated in the shack (Yagi) and at the Idaho Commons (20m Wire Dipole). But sorry, no scores this time around. :(
- ARRL November Sweep Stakes
- Missed!

- Idaho QSO Party (Spring 2008)
- The first test of our rotor. It works, but doesn't indicate direction properly. Nothing some post-it notes can't fix…
