Station Antennas

W7UQ's permanently installed antennas are located on top of the steam plant at the University of Idaho. We have a variety of antennas including uni and omni directionals. Some antennas reside on a tower installed on top of the main steam plant building, while others are attached to a silo overlooking our shack. We also have portable HF/VHF/UHF antennas for field operations.

With our Yagi we have a low take-off angle on 20meters and generally have skip in the range of 1500 miles. On 40m we can work both near and DX stations with a full size antenna. The following image is provided to give an idea on our stateside communications capabilities. Blue represents 20meter contacts, and red represents 40meter contacts. Light blue is 17m contacts, and purple is 70cm/2m satellite contacts (via AO-51).
