Workshops

To aid in understanding of amateur radio and electronics, W7UQ holds workshops on various topics of interest. These are also documented on the web for quick reference by members. If you have any workshop ideas, please contact the club with more information.

Antenna Modeling
Antenna cutting formulas are not enough. To understand the performance of an antenna, you need to model it and its surroundings. In this workshop we introduce 4nec2x with a simple antenna.

Satellite Communications
Satellites provide radio amateurs with relatively easy access to long distance contacts on VHF/UHF frequencies. In some cases it may be possible to talk to astronauts with amateur radio licenses aboard the ISS! In this workshop we talk about antennas, software, and currently available amateur radio satellites.

Propagation Modeling
In this workshop we learn to use Radio Mobile software to produce a radio propagation model that accounts for tropospheric propagation. Note, this is only one of many propagation modes for signals, but is good for predicting 20MHz-20GHz signal propagation where the lowest level of the atmosphere has a large effect.
